About Global Camps

A local holiday camp built around children, community and care

Founded in 2015, Global Camps was created with one simple aim: to make school holidays work better for children and families.

We’re a friendly, local camp combining languages, outdoor play, creativity and sport - run by experienced adults who care deeply about children feeling safe, included and happy.

Our days are active, varied and thoughtfully structured, giving children space to build confidence, make friends and head home tired in the best possible way.

Our story

Global Camps grew out of a simple belief: school holidays should feel enriching, not stressful - for children or for parents.

Drawing on a background in education and years of working with schools and families, Global Camps was designed and set up by Phil to feel welcoming, inclusive and thoughtfully run.

What started as a small local camp has grown into a trusted part of many families’ school holiday routines. Children come back year after year, staff return season after season, and the sense of community remains at the heart of everything that we do.

Why we’re different

Calm structure

We give children a familiar rhythm to the day, so they know what’s coming and feel secure, without over-scheduling or pressure. It’s organised, but relaxed.

Childcare that works

Our full wraparound care (from 7:45am to 6pm) means you’re not juggling half-days, early finishes or multiple drop offs. One place, one team, one less thing to worry about.

Experienced, qualified staff

Languages and sports sessions are led by dedicated, qualified staff - not just whoever is available. Almost all our team work in schools or education year-round, so children are supported by adults who really understand them.

Our Values

Warm and welcoming

Every child is greeted by name and treated like part of the Global Camps community from day one.

Children first

We create an environment where children feel safe, supported and confident enough to try new things at their own pace.

Clear, friendly communication

Parents know where to find us, what to expect, and what’s happening, without guesswork or chasing.

Creativity and play

From language games to outdoor adventures and imaginative activities, we let curiosity lead and fun follow.

Rooted in community

We’re a local camp run by local people, built on trust, connection and long-term relationships with families and schools.

Portrait of Phil, founder and owner of Global Camps

Phil - Founder & Director

Phil founded Global Camps in 2015 with a simple aim: to create holiday childcare that feels safe, enriching and genuinely enjoyable for children - and reassuring for parents.

A qualified teacher with over 20 years’ experience working with children and families, Phil has spent his career supporting young people across mainstream education, specialist SEND provision and one-to-one settings. He has particular expertise in supporting children with additional needs, including dyslexia, autism, ADHD and anxiety.

Phil brings a calm, thoughtful approach to everything Global Camps does, combining clear structure with warmth, flexibility and an understanding that every child is different. He’s passionate about creating environments where children feel confident, included and able to be themselves.

Behind the scenes, Phil ensures that safeguarding, staff training and child wellbeing sit at the heart of every camp, so families can trust that their children are in experienced, capable hands.

Qualifications include Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a Master’s degree in Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia) from UCL, and extensive safeguarding and SEND training.

Donna - Camp Manager

Donna leads the day-to-day running of Global Camps, bringing warmth, energy and a calm, steady presence to every camp day.

She works in a local school during term time and has many years of hands-on experience supporting children of all ages and abilities, including children with additional needs. Donna has been part of Global Camps since the very beginning, and many families and children recognise her as a familiar, trusted face year after year.

At camp, Donna makes sure everything runs smoothly - from welcoming children in the morning, to supporting staff, to ensuring children feel settled, safe and included throughout the day.

Hannah - Camp Communications & Operations

Hannah oversees camp communications and operations, playing a key role in how Global Camps runs day to day.

She manages the systems, processes and logistics that keep camp running smoothly - from bookings and staffing through to information flow, coordination and problem-solving during camp weeks.

Hannah also supports families, carers and staff before, during and after camp, making sure communication is clear, timely and human, especially when plans change or things need sorting quickly.

Working closely with Donna and Phil, she helps ensure that children, families and staff all have a calm, well-organised experience, even during the busiest periods.

Our wider team

Our camps are run by a consistent team of experienced, caring adults - many of whom work in schools year-round as teachers, teaching assistants or specialist support staff.

Most of our team return camp after camp, which means familiar faces, strong relationships, and a calm, settled atmosphere for children. That continuity really matters, especially for younger children or those who benefit from routine and reassurance. It also means staff who know our routines, values and expectations inside out, so each camp runs smoothly from day one.

Every member of our team is fully DBS checked and trained in safeguarding, with clear expectations around child wellbeing, behaviour and inclusion. We take recruitment seriously, prioritising experience, reliability and a genuine interest in working with children over short-term availability.

The result is a team children feel comfortable with, and families can trust.
